Now open for nightly bar happenings and wildly innovative cocktails is Establishment, the newest edition to the Buckhead drinking scene from Karma and Mark Ultra Lounge’s Brandon Lewis. The wood-clad watering hole’s bar program is helmed by Dave Reed formerly of Prohibition and features a deluge of cocktails using fine craft spirits, locally-sourced shrubs and hand-carved ice. Constantly adding to the menu, Reed has developed several eye-catching cocktails like the Deconstructed Cosmo using an ice ball of high end triple sec, cranberry and bitters topped with Hangar One Mandarin Blossom. For die-hard whiskey drinkers, the Maple Mason-Dixie with Vermont Maple-infused foam, bitters and bourbon shines as well as the Breaking & Entering Manhattan that is barrel-aged for several weeks. There’s also a nod to beer aficionados with six high-quality/gravity craft brews on tap.
The space designed by Wendy McGrew pays homage to Buckhead founder Henry Irby (there’s even a painting hung over the bar of the magnate draped in an American flag), and features chandeliers and door handles made from antlers, a ladder-accessible DJ booth, cowhide embroidered bar stools and luxurious tufted banquets.
Bar bites appear magically through a strategically placed secret door in the wooden wall and range from small plates like Bacon & Eggs (a trio deviled eggs served with Benton’s bacon) and hummus with bacon jam, to larger entrees like the Delmonico steak with truffle fries.
